2023 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally: Everything you need to know

The Multistrada V4 Rally is the upcoming Ducati bike that all motorcycle enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating. Here are all the details we have gathered about this new bike.

Ducati we all know this one brand has particularly revolutionized the superbike concept with its so many superbike models around the world. Now Ducati has recently launched another superbike the all-new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally.

Multistrada by Ducati has been one of the most successful motorcycles in the history of the Borgo Panigale brand, all the way from the original V2 power version to the updated Granturismo-powered edition.

The Rally is the sporty off-road Multi in the range, designed for those who wish to travel more distances without ever stopping, even with a passenger. It is the spiritual successor to the Multistrada Enduro, which has been discontinued. So let us know in detail about this superbike.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally: About

In order to fill the void left by the discontinuation of the Multistrada 1260 Enduro, the Multistrada V4 has been upgraded with wire wheels, a stiffer suspension, and the ability to accommodate a larger 30-liter fuel tank for the V4 Rally.

It was from the marshes that the first Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally, a bumper car-styled vehicle emerged in 2003; however, a second-generation model was drastically altered while maintaining the inspiration of its predecessor.

The second generation of the bike carried over its original design goals, which were sound. An Enduro bike with the handling capabilities of a superbike was combined with the adaptability of an Enduro bike. The Multistrada continued to gain popularity after that, capturing more and more market share in the expanding adventure market.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Design & comfort

A passenger can travel farther without stopping on the new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally, because of its high power and performance but the power of a bike is necessary for long-ride comfort equally necessary.

It is primarily for comfort that the larger and heavier vehicle has been designed. A higher, broader screen protects from the elements better, and the rear baggage carriers have been shifted backward to provide more room for the pillion.

In order to make the Multistrada V4 Rally the ideal bike for two-person trips, it has been designed to provide the highest degree of comfort for both the rider and traveling companion. Here are some of the comfort-related features:-

  • A modified windscreen was installed to provide the passenger with more legroom.
  • The case attachment was moved back, and the tail was lengthened for utmost comfort.
  • For the back passengers, bigger rubber inserts have also been added to the footrests to reduce vibration transmission.

Due to multiple saddle heights and the reduced suspension package available, the Multistrada V4 Rally can be tailored to accommodate any rider and passenger combination.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Handling

The suspension and wheels of the V4 Rally are new, although the aluminum monocoque chassis of the normal Multistrada V4 is used.

A higher and more travel-oriented Marzocchi suspension, as well as Ducati’s Skyhook Evolution semi-active damping control system, supports the wire wheels that are the same size as the Multistrada V4’s alloy ones.

V4 Rally features new suspension travel sensors within its 50mm forks, which are located within the suspension. Using this sensor, the semi-active damping can be continuously modified based on the weather and road conditions by sending data regarding wheel movement to the computer that controls it.

Weight of Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally

The V4 Rally has a larger tank and a higher, broader screen fairing, which makes it physically heavier and larger than the V4. The Multi V4 standard weighs 260 kg with gasoline, which is 20 kg more than the Multi V4.

The extra weight comes from the additional components such as the larger tank and the higher, broader screen fairing, which add both weight and size to the bike.

The extra weight also means that it has a lower power-to-weight ratio, which means that it accelerates slower than the standard V4.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Fuel economy

It could have been uncomfortable to ride with the legs spread apart if a 30-liter gas tank had been used instead of the conventional 22-liter tank.

But Ducati has shifted the extra capacity forward into the tank’s wider shoulders while retaining the tank’s thin profile at the seat, and the larger tank doesn’t stand any taller.

In combination with the 30-liter tank, the new cylinder deactivation mechanism should make the Rally more economical, especially at low speeds, but Ducati has yet to disclose the Rally’s fuel consumption.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Pros & Cons

Pros

  • A wire wheel and off-road suspension add a new weapon to this new Ducati Multistrada V4.
  • There are many benefits to cylinder deactivation, including improved fuel efficiency, a longer range, and lower emissions.
  • An improved level of comfort for passengers and riders.

Cons

  • The price can be a bit of an issue.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Safety features

A leading technology and safety brand, the Ducati Multistrada family remains competitive even with the Rally variant. A number of security features are included on the Multistrada V4 Rally to enhance active safety, such as:-

  • In the form of Ducati Cornering Lights, the bike lights up the inside of turns during the day so that you can see better at night time.
  • With Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which makes riding more bearable on long road sections, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD), which alerts the rider to approaching vehicles in the mirror blind spot, the Multistrada V4 was the first motorcycle in the entire world to come with a front and rear radar system.
  • With Ducati Wheelie Control and Ducati Traction Control, you can utilize the braking power even when cornering with the motorcycle’s braking system.

These systems optimize the intervention depending on the lean and pitch angle of the vehicle using the inertial platform (IMU).

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Engine

The V4 Granturismo engine of the Multistrada V4 Rally is the same displacement and stroke as the V4 Granturismo engine of previous Multistrada V4 models, but it also features an “extended” mechanism for deactivating cylinders.

With the V4 Rally’s model, you can effectively ride with the back cylinder bank inactive – giving you a 579cc parallel twin. To improve the economy and minimize heat soak, Ducati will reduce its other V4 engines to two cylinders while stationary.

To increase efficiency and reduce emissions, fuel, and spark are turned off to the rear cylinders when the engine is not needed to produce much power.

Multistrada V4 Rally Transmission

Depending on the gear selected, the cylinder deactivation map on the V4 changes depending on the six-speed transmission.

The automatic transmission won’t engage when you are in first gear, so you’ll always be pulling away from a stop on all four wheels.

Multistrada V4 Rally Braking system

There are Brembo brakes, as is customary for Ducati, with Stylema radial mount four-pots up front with 330mm discs and a two-piston rear caliper with a 265mm disc.

Every model of the company is equipped with cornering ABS, which is guided by a six-axis IMU, which is also a key to many other safety features. Automatic braking can also be assisted by radar, although it may only apply partial force.
